TECHNICAL DIVING

In recreational diving, you are taught to observe a set of limits which means that you dive without being obliged to make any decompression stops on the way to the surface. Technical diving allows you to go beyond the recreational limits. If you have the desire to explore deeper or simply want to stay longer at depth then you must undertake training to acquire the knowledge and master the skills and techniques to keep you safe! We offer courses which allow you to try technical diving, take your first steps or continue your training.


Technical diving is not for everyone and requires a certain mindset, discipline and commitment. It’s not necessarily a natural progression and many accomplished divers never choose this route.

PADI TEC 40  is your first true step in your technical diving education.
It’s the first of three courses which, if taken together and consecutively, would add up to the PADI Tec Deep course - PADI Tec 40 + PADI Tec 45 + PADI Tec 50 = PADI Tec Deep
You will learn :

  • to use decompression software and dive computers to plan dives
  • to make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression .
  • to use a cylinder of gas for decompression with up to 50 percent oxygen (EANx50)
  • conservative dive practices and emergency procedures.
  • The maximum depth for this course and certification is 40m.

 

PADI TEC 45 is the second step in your technical diving education.
It’s the second of three courses which, if taken together and consecutively, would add up to the PADI Tec Deep course - PADI Tec 40 + PADI Tec 45 + PADI Tec 50 = PADI Tec Deep
You will learn :

  • to use decompression software and dive computers to plan dives
  • to make decompression dives with unlimited decompression
  • to use a cylinder of gas for decompression  with up to 100 percent oxygen (EANx50)
  • conservative dive practices and emergency procedures.
  • The maximum depth for this course and certification is 45m.

 

PADI TEC DEEP DIVER  takes your diving to new depths.This course combines all three levels of PADI Tec 40, PADI Tec 45, and PADI Tec 50. Its the route that most divers take, as long as they meet the entry requirements and are sure of their commitment! It qualifies the diver to conducted accelerated decompression dives up to 50m using up to 100% Oxygen.
What you will do :

The course progresses you through the water skills and theoretical concepts and exercises constantly re-enforce disciplines and build in complexity.This course will challenge you. Below is a sample of how the schedule can be completed. This will just give you an idea. We can tailor the course to suit you and we can include full day wreck trips or liveaboard trips to visit the Gulfs fantastic wreck sites too.

Schedule:

Day 1 - Theoritical modules 1-3 - Equipment, dive planning and discipline.
Dives 1 - 3 - Are shallow skill drill dives conducted in a swimming pool or open water to give you the opportunity to get used to the equipment and covers all techniques which are different from recreational diving.
Day 2 & 3 - Theoretical Modules 4-5 and the first exam - Advanced dive planning and technical diving procedures.
Dives 4 - 7 - Gradually get deeper and introduce you to the procedures of diving to a decompression schedule and using enriched air to extend your no-stop time. The maximum depths here progress up to 30m.
Day 4 - Dives 8 - 9  - are your first true decompression dives – we can complete these on a full day wreck trip or visit to Sail Rock.
Day 5 - A day on land to complete your final theorectical module and final exam.
Day 6 - 8 Dives 10-12 - Are your final qualifying dives.  Here we can also take you on a full day wreck trip or you can join a liveaboard trip with extra dives so that you can put everything you have learnt into practice.
